Obviously, this is an extremely liberal source of info so perhaps it has bit of lean to it, but this proposed GA law that could criminalize miscarriages? I don't even have words for how outraged this makes me.
A billboard that's both anti-choice AND racist? Oh boy.
The issue with the SI Swimsuit Issue. Hell yeah.
Lady Porn Day! Lots of good stuff here.
I really love BeautySchooled's guest post on 2000 Dollar Wedding about choosing to not hop on the scale pre-wedding. Brava!

Have a great weekend!
Much love,

Excerpted from a convo with a friend about the same bill:
ReplyDeleteIt's a very interesting bill, but not for the reasons you cite. " Georgia was not a party to the suit in Roe v. Wade, and is not bound by a decision in which it did not have right of participation." The bill mainly seeks to redefine a lot of things in ways that have no legal precedent. If this passes, there are definitely going to be some important court cases.
That said, I really wish mother jones would discuss the actual text of the bill instead of going for shock value by pulling out dubious intepretations of the bill. They've lost all credibility as a news source with me (and this is coming from someone who used to read the magazine religiously), what with this and a similar issue written about here: http://www.examiner.com/libertarian-in-san-jose/south-dakota-to-legalize-killing-abortion-providers
Botom line: Process for citizen involvement: 1. Read news. 2. Read actual bill text. 3. Call legislators to make your informed opinion known. 4. /Then/ complain about how messed up our government is.
A friend of mine passed on your blog to me and I just wanted to say I think it is so fun and interesting! I am definitely following :-)
ReplyDelete@ Teddi--glad to hear it!
ReplyDelete@Sarah--I agree, I'm sad about the turn Mother Jones has taken.
